"Student killed during burglary at N.J. college fraternity" Associated Press May 02, 2016
NEWARK — A student was shot and killed Monday during a burglary at a fraternity house near the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the university president said.
The burglary took place around 3:30 a.m. at Tau Kappa Epsilon on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark, college president Joel Bloom said.
Joseph Micalizzi, 23, of Freehold, died at University Hospital, the Essex County prosecutor’s office said.
An investigation was ongoing and no arrests have been made in the shooting, the prosecutor’s office said.
Micalizzi was a member of the fraternity, and the mechanical engineering major was in his second year at the school after transferring from a community college.
The fraternity is across the street from the Rutgers-Newark campus, near where a Rutgers student was killed in a double shooting last month....
