Lowell on Lock Down

Take a look for yourself....

"‘Extremely dangerous’ suspect sought in fatal Lowell shooting" by Jacob Geanous and John R. Ellement Globe Correspondent and Globe Staff  May 11, 2017

Lowell police lifted a shelter in place advisory late Thursday night, but the search continued for a man believed to be “armed and extremely dangerous” who allegedly shot and killed a woman in the hallway of her apartment building earlier in the day.

“The search for the suspect in today’s homicide is active and ongoing,” Meghan Kelly, a spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in an e-mail to the Globe following a press briefing with Lowell police Thursday night.

“We continue to ask anyone with any information to call 911 and to not approach the suspect,” she said.

The suspect was identified as Ross Elliott, 51, of Lowell.

He is alleged to have shot the woman, who was in her 40s, in the head around 7:30 a.m., while her daughter and other relatives were inside the Stevens Street home, Ryan’s office said.

The woman, who was not identified, and her suspected killer had previously been in a “domestic relationship,” Ryan said at a press conference earlier Thursday.

Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor said the woman’s child is in the custody of police and relatives and is safe.

He said police have searched a residence on Gorham Street but concluded the suspect has not been living there.
