Korea, Kenya, and the Clintons

It "underscored the unique and enduring role of the Clintons, even in the Obama era.... the decision was cloaked in secrecy and came after weeks of backchannel talks"

Globalists.
That's why the hubby loves daddy Bush.

That's why I'm not into highlighting the voluminous garbage sent forth by the MSM.

"Clinton wins pardons in N. Korea; Ex-president appeals to ruler on journalists’ behalf" by Mark Landler and Peter Baker, New York Times | August 5, 2009

WASHINGTON - Former President Bill Clinton left North Korea this morning after a dramatic 20-hour visit, in which he won the freedom of two American journalists, opened a diplomatic channel to North Korea’s reclusive regime, and dined with its ailing leader, Kim Jong Il....

The North Korean government, which in June sentenced the women to 12 years of hard labor for illegally entering North Korean territory, announced hours earlier that it had pardoned the women after Clinton apologized to Kim for their actions, according to the North Korean state media.....

I meant ours, not theirs....

Clinton’s mission.... came at a time when the United States’ relationship with North Korea had become especially chilled, following North Korea’s test of its second nuclear device in May and a series of missile launches. It ended a harrowing ordeal for the two women, who were stopped on March 17 by soldiers near North Korea’s border with China while researching a report about women and human trafficking....

Imagine how harrowing it is to be tortured and held forever when innocent in [pick your unknown -- or known -- US torture chambers].

And it catapulted Clinton back onto the global stage, on behalf of President Obama, who defeated Clinton’s wife, Hillary, in a bitter primary campaign and later named her secretary of state. Hillary Rodham Clinton was deeply involved in the case, too. She proposed sending various people to Pyongyang - including Bill Clinton’s former vice president, Al Gore - to lobby for the release of the women, before Bill Clinton emerged as the preferred choice of the North Koreans, people briefed on the talks said.

About 10 days ago, these people said, Gore, who cofounded Current TV, the San Francisco-based media company that employs Ling and Lee, called the former president to ask him to undertake the trip. Clinton agreed, as long as the Obama administration did not object.

I now view all western reporters as agenda-pushing spies.

The riveting tableau of a former president, jetting into a diplomatic crisis while his wife was embarking on a tour of Africa in her role as the nation’s chief diplomat, underscored the unique and enduring role of the Clintons, even in the Obama era.

The trip came just two weeks after North Korea issued a harsh personal attack on Hillary Clinton, following comments she made likening its nuclear tests and missile launches to the behavior of an attention-seeking teenager. The North Korean foreign ministry objected at the time to her “vulgar remarks’’ and called her “a funny lady’’ who was neither intelligent nor diplomatic. “Sometimes she looks like a primary schoolgirl and sometimes a pensioner going shopping,’’ the foreign ministry spokesman said.

So Bill is bailing her out, 'eh? The REAL Sec-of-State?

The flap evidently did not stop consideration of sending her husband as an envoy. But the decision was cloaked in secrecy and came after weeks of backchannel talks between the United States and North Korea through its UN mission.

In addition to Gore, the White House had a list of potential candidates, including Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, who negotiated with North Korea during the Clinton administration, and Stephen W. Bosworth, the current special envoy for North Korea’s nuclear program.

North Korea, however, signaled it wanted someone of Bill Clinton’s stature, and the families of Ling and Lee also requested his help. As president, Clinton had sent Kim a letter of condolence on the death of his father, Kim Il Sung, according to a former official. For Kim, this person said, freeing the women was a “reciprocal humanitarian gesture.’’

Kim is believed to have suffered a stroke last year. American officials said they believe his declining health has set off a succession struggle, complicating the administration’s dealings with the regime....

Still, the North Korean government, clearly seeing a propaganda opportunity at home and a rare chance for a measure of favorable publicity abroad, welcomed Clinton with the fanfare of a state visit, broadcasting photos of Kim gesturing and talking to Clinton; the former president accepting a bouquet of flowers from a North Korean girl; a group portrait; and Clinton, seated across a negotiating table from Kim, each flanked by their aides. Among those greeting Clinton at the airport was Kim Kye Gwan, North Korea’s chief nuclear negotiator.

I'm sick of the Zionist insults when THE SAME COULD BE SAID -- more so in fact -- of that hellish little stinkstate called Israel and its AmeriKan MSM agents.

Among those accompanying Clinton was David Straub, a former Korea desk officer at the State Department, who held talks with the North Koreans through what is known as the “New York connection.’’

So the BACK CHANNELS are JEWS in NEW YORK, 'eh?

The TRUE POWER behind the U.S. THRONE!!!!!!!

*************

Bill Clinton has sought to find the right place in the Obama era, eager to play a role without stepping on the toes of the new president or certainly the secretary of state. Obama and Bill Clinton have patched their relationship after the bitterness of last year’s campaign, when race, class and other combustible issues created deep enmity between the two camps, but they have not been close....

Bill Clinton’s high-profile mission may be less of an issue for Obama than for Hillary Clinton. The same day that Bill Clinton landed in North Korea, Hillary Clinton arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, kicking off an 11-day journey through Africa - a visit now largely eclipsed by her husband’s travels.

And WHY would THAT BE, MSM?

Can't CHEW GUM and WALK at the same selective time?

Say anything about the prisons to our ally, Hitlery?

"Kenya’s leader commutes death terms" by Associated Press | August 4, 2009

"North Korea: Bill Clinton opens a path

The Obama administration chose well when it sent Bill Clinton to obtain the release of two US journalists who were arrested in North Korea in March. Clinton was the unofficial envoy the North Koreans wanted to receive; it was during his presidency, they believe, that they came closest to achieving an end to hostile relations with America. So Clinton’s audience with reclusive leader Kim Jong Il didn’t just free the two reporters; it also helped advance the national-security objective of reviving negotiations to bring about the dismantling of the North’s nuclear and missile programs. Kim’s reception of Clinton signaled a readiness for bilateral talks with the United States. Obama must not squander the opportunity.

First thing I would do is send boatloads of food.
