Globe Gets Back to Business on Oil Spill

UPDATE: Mariner may be facing BP-style crisis

What ANOTHER OIL WELL BLEW UP in the GULF?

I'm not worried: I'm sure the Globe and MSM will BURY IT just as they have the BP GULF GUSHER!

That's where I found my only article of the day today, folks.

"After gulf spill, BP spent $93m on ads" by Matthew Daly, Associated Press | September 2, 2010

WASHINGTON — Oil giant BP says it has spent more than $5 million a week on advertising since the Gulf Coast oil spill — more than three times what it spent on ads during the same period last year.

And every time I see one I become enraged.

I am SO SICK of CORPORATE LIES on my television and in my newspaper!

BP PLC told the House Energy and Commerce Committee that it spent $93 million on advertising from April to the end of July. The company says the money was intended to keep Gulf Coast residents informed on issues related to the oil spill and to ensure transparency about its actions....

Yeah, that's real transparent.

So CORPORATIONS LIE right to your f***ing face, huh?

Representative Kathy Castor, Democrat of Florida, who requested the report on BP’s spending, said yesterday that she was disappointed the company has spent more money “polishing the corporate image’’ than on helping Gulf Coast states recover from the April 20 explosion and oil spill.

You can make a turd all shiny but it still stinks!

BP said it has spent $89.5 million on grants to four Gulf Coast states — Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana — to promote tourism since the oil spill.

“Every day you get up and see these full-page ads in every newspaper and the TV ads,’’ Castor said. “It’s really ticking people off.’’

Do you get that from my commentaries, readers?

Yeah, I am SO SICK of being LIED TO by my GOVERNMENT and MSM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I seem TICKED OFF to YOU?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott Dean, a spokesman for BP, said large companies spend hundreds of millions each year to communicate about their activities and products....

BP’s ad campaign, in which employees vow to restore the Gulf Coast, appears to be having some effect. An Associated Press poll shows the company’s marks for handling the oil spill more than doubled from June and August — rising to 33 percent approval among those surveyed from a dismal 15 percent in June.

Well, what do you know, ANOTHER HORSE SHIT POLL from the LYING, AGENDA-PUSHING (that is what AP stands for) PRESS POLL!!

Some 66 percent of those surveyed continue to disapprove of BP’s performance, down from 83 percent in June....

And it will be BUSINESS as USUAL despite the propaganda piece from the government mouthpiece known as the newspaper:

"Oil drilling agency adopts conflict-of-interest policy; Move targets ‘cozy ’ ties to industry" by Matthew Daly, Associated Press | September 1, 2010

WASHINGTON — Scandalized by federal regulators who had sex with oil company executives and negotiated with them for jobs, the agency that oversees offshore drilling is imposing its first ethics policy....

Need a POLICY, huh?

Yup, the government s*** scum need a POLICY to DO WHAT is RIGHT!

Michael Bromwich, head of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, said the new policy should help restore credibility to his beleaguered agency, which was widely criticized under its former name, the Minerals Management Service, for being too close to oil and gas companies.

No flipping way!

EVERYONE KNOWS the GOVERNMENT is in the POCKET of CORPORATIONS, and NO AMOUNT of GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA is ever going to change that!

President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar have pledged to end the agency’s “cozy relationship’’ with industry and slow the revolving door between government and the energy industry.

Yeah, right, Obama.

That is why YOUR ADMINISTRATION gave BP WAIVERS all over the place!

Under the new policy, agency employees must notify a supervisor about any potential conflict of interest and step aside when inspections or other official duties involve a company that employs a family member or close personal friend....

The new policy, which takes effect immediately, is being implemented after a series of jaw-dropping reports documenting the close relationship between agency workers and energy company representatives.

Jaw-dropping to who, MSM? You?

They sure weren't jaw-dropping to the American people who have KNOWN FOR YEARS about the INCEST between GOVERNMENT and OIL!

In May, the Interior Department’s acting inspector general found that mineral management employees in the Lake Charles, La., office accepted meals, football tickets, hunting trips, and other gifts from the oil and gas companies they were regulating. In at least one case, an inspector admitted using crystal methamphetamine and said he might have been under the influence of the drug the next day at work.

Yup, GOVERNMENT SERVICE is just ONE BIG PARTY!

A separate 2008 inspector general report singled out workers in the agency’s Lakewood, Colo., office for having sexual relationships with energy company executives and accepting gifts from them.

Mary Kendall, the Interior Department’s acting inspector general, said her biggest concern was the ease with which drilling agency employees moved between industry and government. Inspectors and oil company workers have often known one another since childhood, and their relationships took precedence over their jobs, Kendall said.

So it is just ONE BIG ELITE OIL CLUB, huh?

Or is that just a garbage lie put out by government?

I'm really finding that one hard to believe.

The new policy is directed toward the most clear-cut conflicts of interest and acknowledges that drilling regulators often live near rig workers and supervisors they see in the field. The guidelines do not require recusal in all those situations, as long as the neighbors have limited personal knowledge of each other and share only general conversations....

Translation: This is all P.R. PROPAGANDA S*** for you to slurp up, 'murkns!

It is to MAKE the PROBLEMS and the ISSUE GO AWAY so SOME OTHER AGENDA can be PUSHED!

In the past, bureau employees exploited exceptions to ethics rules that allow gifts from industry contacts they counted as friends.

Then it really is NOT the FIRST ETHICS POLICY, is it?

Yeah, you where TOLD a HUGE WHOPPER of a LIE right in the FIRST PARAGRAPH, readers!

It is called SETTING the IMAGE in your MIND because you were not supposed to have read this far like I did.

In a memo to the drilling agency’s 1,700 employees, Bromwich acknowledged the new policy responds to widespread criticism....

But not the FIRST POLICY, huh?

And he JUST ADMITTED this is a PR MOVE like BP!

Oh, btw, the WELL is STILL LEAKING!

"Rough seas in gulf delay final plugging of BP well; Crews to remove temporary cap, get blowout preventer" by Harry R. Weber, Associated Press | August 31, 2010

NEW ORLEANS — High seas on the Gulf of Mexico prompted BP yesterday to delay operations for up to three days to raise the piece of equipment from the seabed that failed to prevent the massive oil spill, the US government said....

A new blowout preventer will be placed atop the well once the failed one is raised. After that, the goal is to drill the final 50 feet of a relief well.

Engineers will then pump in mud and cement to plug the well that gushed oil. The final plugging of the well was expected to start after Labor Day, but retired Coast Admiral Thad Allen said yesterday that will be delayed as well because of the weather....

So it ISN'T REALLY PLUGGED as they TOLD YOU, huh?

And that was what, OVER a MONTH AGO!

The leak was first contained when engineers were able to place a cap atop BP’s well. Workers then pumped mud and cement in through the top in a “static kill’’ operation that significantly reduced pressure inside the well.

Then why didn't the first few work, and why did they wait so long?

Related: BP engineers might have misread results of well stability test

I guess the LIES and OBFUSCATIONS NEVER STOP, huh?

Officials don’t expect oil to leak into the sea again when the cap is removed, but Allen has ordered BP to be ready to collect any leaking crude just in case.

Someone say something?

The 50-foot, 600,000-pound blowout preventer — which was designed to prevent such a catastrophe — will be taken out of the water with the well pipe still inside to ensure the pipe doesn’t break apart more than it already has. Keeping the blowout preventer intact is important because it is key to ongoing investigations into the cause of the disaster.

A joint investigative panel of the Coast Guard and Bureau of Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement last week wrapped up five days of hearings.

Otherwise known as the cover-up commission.

The federal government said last week that it was reopening more federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico for commercial and recreational fishing that had been closed because of the spill. The government opened 4,281 square miles of waters off the coast of western Louisiana.

Scientists found no oil or dispersants on samples of shrimp and finfish....
