"UN board censures Iran on nuclear policies; Cites defiance on secret plant Vote displays rare solidarity" by Joby Warrick and Thomas Erdbrink, Washington Post | November 28, 2009

WASHINGTON - The United Nations nuclear watchdog’s governing board voted overwhelmingly yesterday to censure Iran for its defiant nuclear policies and demanded an immediate halt to work on a uranium-enrichment plant built in secret in mountain tunnels south of the Iranian capital....

The resolution represented a rare show of global solidarity against Iran’s nuclear program, drawing support not only from Western powers but also from Russia and China. Cuba, Malaysia, and Venezuela opposed the measure.

Our patience and that of the international community is limited,’’ Glyn T. Davies, the US envoy to the UN agency, said following the vote at the IAEA’s Vienna headquarters....

The largely symbolic resolution berates Iran for its continued defiance of UN resolutions....

Why don't you U.N. guys TAKE IT and TELL IT to ISRAEL, 'kay?!!!!

You know, I never responded well to berating, how about you?

And if it is a symbolic resolution, why make such a big deal out of it, MSM?

Oh, right; the Washington Post is the CIA 's newspaper.

"Iran could withdraw from nuclear treaty, lawmaker warns; Threat follows UN resolution censuring Tehran" by Ali Akbar Dareini, Associated Press | November 29, 2009

TEHRAN - A conservative Iranian legislator warned yesterday that his country may pull out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty after a UN resolution censuring Tehran - a move that could seriously undermine world attempts to prevent Iran from developing atomic weapons.

Well, they are NOT DEVELOPING them -- but who could blame them if they were?

We have all seen what happens to those without nuclear weapons. Go ask Saddam Hussein.

Oh, right, he's dead now.

Of course, it is NO PROBLEM that U.S. ALLIES ISRAEL and INDIA never signed.

Heck, we are HELPING THEM BOTH!

Iran’s official news agency quoted a hard-line political analyst who made the same point, another indication that the idea could be gaining steam. If Iran withdraws from the treaty, its nuclear program would no longer be subject to oversight by the UN nuclear agency. That in turn would be a significant blow to efforts to ensure that no enriched uranium is diverted from use as fuel to warhead development....

His threat could be a tactic to warn the West of possible consequences if it pursues further action against Iran, such as strengthened sanctions.... Iran’s government insists its nuclear program is meant only for peaceful purposes, though the United States and other Western nations suspect Tehran is seeking to acquire atomic weapons.

At what point do you stop trying to convince people who will never believe you, dear readers? I think Iran is reaching that stage.

Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Iran’s chief delegate to the UN nuclear agency, was also defiant yesterday in the face of the agency’s fresh demands, saying on state television that Iran will limit its cooperation with the UN watchdog to its treaty obligations and will not cooperate beyond that.

“Our first reaction to this resolution is that they [the UN agency] should not expect us to do what we did several times in the past few months when we cooperated beyond our obligations to remove ambiguities,’’ Soltanieh said.

Yeah, and see the thanks they get!

He added that the country’s nuclear activities will not be interrupted by resolutions from the UN nuclear agency’s board, the UN Security Council or even the threat of military strikes against the facilities....

Can they be any clearer?

"Iran unveils plans for vast expansion of nuclear program; Uranium enrichment growth stokes fears of weapons production" by Thomas Erdbrink, Washington Post | November 30, 2009

Yes, I guess they can.

TEHRAN - Relations between the sides now appear to be headed toward a more confrontational phase....

Hey, at least the agenda-pushing paper tells you where we are going.

Iran now voluntarily allows certain inspections, giving specified technical information and allowing permanent UN security cameras at its nuclear sites.

Oh, HOW UNREASONABLE!!!!!!!!

Under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, which is meant to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons, it is not required to allow many checks by the UN nuclear agency. Some parliamentarians want Iran to completely abandon the agreement. Analysts say such a move is unlikely.

I'm telling you -- as an American from afar reading Zionist War Prop -- that I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH a group of PATIENT PEOPLE as I have the Iranians!

Nonetheless, politicians, officials, and senior clerics here expressed their dismay over Friday’s reprimand by the IAEA, saying Iran has gone beyond its legal requirements to prove its good intentions and calling for reducing cooperation with the agency.

And for this Obama is getting impatient?

Better give back that Nobel Prize, 'bamer!

“We have options ranging from complete and full cooperation to leaving the Non-Proliferation Treaty on our table,’’ Kazem Jalali, the spokesman for the Parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said in an interview. “But we believe that if the West reforms its path, we can still choose the full-cooperation option.’’

That would mean DISOBEYING ISRAEL and I see no inclination in our leaders for that.

MORE PROVOCATION by -- the way I read this half-assed and lame excuse by the British -- SPIES!!!!!

It’s hard to see why, on a regular journey from Bahrain to Dubai, they would have gone through Iranian territorial waters’’

Yes, INDEED!!!!

"
Iran holds 5 Britons halted on yacht; Racing crew detained amid nuclear tensions" by Raphael G. Satter, Associated Press | December 1, 2009

LONDON - Iran is holding five British sailors after stopping their racing yacht in the Persian Gulf, the British government said yesterday. The move could heighten tensions between Iran and major world powers, including Britain, that are demanding a halt to its nuclear program.

"This is a repeat of the same PR stunt the British tried back in 2007! Nothing like a new hostage crisis to distract the media from Climategate, eh?" -- Wake the Flock Up

The yacht owned by Sail Bahrain was stopped on its way from the tiny island country to the Gulf city of Dubai on Wednesday when it “may have strayed inadvertently into Iranian waters,’’ Britain’s Foreign Office said....

Yeah, BULL-CRAP!!!!

They HAD GPS and all the fancy gizmos, so PFFFFFFTTTT!!!!

Richard Schofield, a specialist on international boundaries in the Middle East at King’s College in London, said it was difficult to understand how the boat could have ended up in trouble with Iranian authorities. “It’s hard to see why, on a regular journey from Bahrain to Dubai, they would have gone through Iranian territorial waters,’’ he said.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband of Britain said British officials ha d been in touch about the matter with their Iranian counterparts for nearly a week. It was not immediately clear why British officials had decided to publicize the case now....

Actually, IT IS and WE CAN SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU:

C-L-I-M-A-T-E-G-A-T-E!!!

The statement added that the crew members “are still in Iran’’ and were “understood to be safe,’’ but did not specify where they were and what their legal status was. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said she was not in a position to elaborate.

Since when?

An Iranian Foreign Ministry official said he was not aware of reports a British yacht had been stopped. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press....

Iran is holding three young Americans who strayed across the border from northern Iraq in July. The United States has appealed for their release, saying they were innocent hikers who accidentally crossed into Iran. Tehran has accused them of spying, a sign that they could be put on trial.

What a SHAME when IRAN is MORE TRUSTWORTHY than YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT or MSM, AmeriKa! How TRULY SAD!

Fifteen British military personnel were detained in the Gulf by Iran under disputed circumstances in March 2007. Iran charged them with trespassing in its waters, and the Iranian government televised apologies by some of the captured crew. All were eventually freed without an apology from Britain, which steadfastly insisted the crew members were taken in Iraqi waters, where they were authorized to be.

There those damn Iranians go again! Being magnanimous to Britain again!!!!

Schofield, of King’s College, said that Iran had a pattern of taking such action when it was feeling “a little defensive.’’

Yeah, well, GIVEN the THREATS from ISRAEL of IMPATIENCE of its BULLY WHO FIGHTS ITS BATTLES (the U.S.), YOU would feel a "little defensive" yourself!!!!

************************

Analysts said the announcement on the new plants, made Sunday by Tehran, is largely bluster after a strong rebuke from the UN’s nuclear agency. Nonetheless, the defiance is fueling calls among Western allies for new punitive sanctions to freeze Iran’s nuclear program.

So WHEN does the USRAELI AIR RAID BEGIN?!!!!

US and European officials were swift to condemn the plans, warning that Iran risked sinking ever deeper into isolation.

This the same nation that has WAR CRIMES CHARGES BLOCKED by a VETO in the Security Council? Is that what they mean by "isolation?"

Oh, sorry, wrong nation that begins with I.

Iran’s bold announcement appears to be largely impossible to achieve as long as sanctions continue to throw up roadblocks and force Iran to turn to black markets and smuggling for nuclear equipment, said nuclear analyst David Albright. “They can’t build those plants. There’s no way,’’ he said. “They have sanctions to overcome, they have technical problems. They have to buy things overseas . . . and increasingly it’s all illegal.’’

Yup, and OUR SPY BUG SATELLITES SHOULD SEE the CONSTRUCTION!!

Nuclear bombs are not made in a bathtub, folks -- despite what the MSM of AmeriKa would have you believe!
