Boston Globe Bible Burning

No, not really, but it sure grabbed your attention didn't it?

What I am offended most by is not even the disrespect offered to the Koran; it's the overblown AmeriKan MSM reaction and its blatant agenda-pushing (and many Muslims don't even care; they have more pressing problems right now like staying alive). It is leading all the newscasts and is all the talk on the cable news shows.

This and the whole NYC mosque thing are CONTRIVED STORIES made to REINFORCE the whole "Muslims did 9/11" thing and justify the continued aggression against them.

Btw, it wasn't
Muslims that did 9/11; it was Israel.

So why isn't the agent provocateur pastor burning the Talmud or Torah?

"Plan to burn Koran denounced in many quarters; Faith leaders join Petraeus, other critics" by Mitch Stacy, Associated Press | September 8, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A Christian minister vowed yesterday to go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Koran to protest the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks despite warnings from the White House and the top US general in Afghanistan that such an act would endanger American troops overseas.

Just the being there endangers the troops and it has nothing to do with this; however, nothing Christian about torching a holy book.

Made me think of WHO in the PAST BURNED BOOKS and it came to me: the NAZIS and the MAOISTS!!

Yeah, that's a REAL GREAT LEGACY you want to live up to there!

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center, which has about 50 members, said he understands the government’s concerns but plans to go forward with the burning Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the attacks.

That's it?

This FRINGE GROUP is getting MAJOR MSM PLAY?

WTF, readers?

He left the door open to change his mind, saying he is still praying about his decision, which was condemned yesterday by an interfaith coalition that met in Washington to respond to a spike in anti-Muslim bigotry.

I blame the Muslim-hating, agenda-pushing, war-promoting Zionist AmeriKan MSM. newspapers.

And WHY isn't the ADL out in front on this, huh?

General David Petraeus warned in an e-mail to the Associated Press that “images of the burning of a Koran would undoubtedly be used by extremists in Afghanistan — and around the world — to inflame public opinion and incite violence.’’

Do you mean the same way those burning towers were used to launch wars based on lies, Dave?

Btw, WHO are the EXTREMISTS, huh?

State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley echoed that, calling the plan to burn copies of the Koran un-American and saying it does not represent the views of most people in the United States.

Thanks for finally including me in something, government.

“While it may well be within someone’s rights to take this action, we hope cooler heads will prevail,’’ Crowley said.

But what this does do is suck up all the oxygen and has you talking about this agenda-pushing nonsense.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York defended Jones’s right to burn the Muslim holy book, though he called his action “distasteful.’’

“In a strange way, I’m here to defend his right to do that. I happen to think that it is distasteful. I don’t think he would like it if somebody burned a book that in his religion he thinks is holy,’’ the mayor said following a news conference about the progress of the reconstruction at the World Trade Center site.

Bloomberg emphasized that Jones’s planned act is protected by free speech rights.

“We can’t say that we’re going to apply the First Amendment to only those cases where we are in agreement,’’ he said.

Yeah, he is right about that.

We have to grit our teeth and put up with so many assholes here in AmeriKa.

Then again, I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!

Jones said in a phone interview that he is also concerned but implied that not going ahead with the plan would constitute backing down by the United States.

“We think it’s time to turn the tables, and instead of possibly blaming us for what could happen, we put the blame where it belongs — on the people who would do it,’’ he said. “And maybe instead of addressing us, we should address radical Islam and send a very clear warning that they are not to retaliate in any form.’’

Jones, who runs the small, evangelical Christian church with an anti-Islam philosophy, says he has received more than 100 death threats and has started wearing a .40-caliber pistol strapped to his hip.

Who would want to waste time killing you?

Just crawl back under that rock you slithered out from, 'kay?

Btw, I do defend his gun rights.

The threats started not long after the 58-year-old minister proclaimed in July that he would stage “International Burn a Koran Day.’’ Supporters have been mailing copies of the Islamic holy text to his Dove World Outreach Center to be incinerated in a bonfire that evening.

Oh, it is going to be a bonfire even!

The Fire Department has denied Jones a required burn permit for Saturday, but he says he is going ahead with his event. He said lawyers have told him his right to burn the Koran is protected by the First Amendment whether he has permission from the city or not.

Since when does the U.S. government observe the Constitution?

They choose this case to exercise it?

Muslims consider the Koran to be the word of God and insist it be treated with the utmost respect, along with any printed material containing its verses or the name of Allah or the Prophet Muhammad.

I actually feel that way about books in general.

Any intentional damage or show of disrespect to the Koran is deeply offensive.

And I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY people might feel that way.

What a HATEFUL thing to DO, and certainly NOT a CHRISTIAN THING!!

The interfaith group of evangelical, Roman Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim leaders meeting in Washington condemned Jones’s plan as a violation of American values and the Bible....

Oh, I agree -- at least, they certainly are NOT the VALUES of the America in which I BELIEVE!!!

I know my nation RARELY ACTS as I wish it would; however, maybe we could REDEEM OURSELVES if we began to at least TRY and LIVE UP to those VALUES ONCE AGAIN!!!

“This is not the America that we all have grown to love and care about,’’ said Rabbi Steve Gutow of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. “We have to stand up for our Muslim brothers and sisters and say, ‘This is not OK.’ ’’

I appreciate the sentiments; however, WHEN am I going to HEAR YOU on PALESTINE, sir!!!??

In this progressive north Florida town of 125,000 anchored by the sprawling University of Florida campus, the lanky preacher with the bushy white mustache is mostly seen as a fringe character who doesn’t deserve the attention he’s getting.

Yeah, which begs the question WHY IS HE, MSM?

(Of course, you and I KNOW WHY, readers)!

Still, at least two dozen Christian churches, Jewish temples, and Muslim organizations in Gainesville have mobilized to plan inclusive events to counter what Jones is doing. A student group is organizing a protest across the street from the church Saturday.

The Vatican newspaper yesterday published an article in which Catholic bishops, including Archbishop Lawrence John Saldanha of Lahore, Pakistan, criticized Jones’s plan.

Pakistan has CATHOLICS in it (smile)?

NO KIDDING!!!?

And CUI BONO when Christians and Muslims are at each others throats for no reason?

"Fla. pastor set on holding Sept. 11 Koran burn; Reports he has received support, death threats" by Mitch Stacy, Associated Press | September 9, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The leader of a Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy said yesterday that he was determined to burn copies of the Koran on Saturday despite pressure from the White House, religious leaders, and others to call it off.

Pastor Terry Jones said at a news conference that he has received a lot of encouragement, with supporters mailing copies of the Islamic holy text to his Gainesville church of about 50 followers. He proclaimed in July that he would stage “International Burn a Koran Day’’ to mark the ninth anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

For a FRINGE CHARACTER and EXTREMIST!

Thanks, Amerikan MSM!!

“As of right now, we are not convinced that backing down is the right thing,’’ Jones said.

Jones said he has received more than 100 death threats and has started carrying a .40-caliber pistol since announcing his plan to burn the book Muslims consider the word of God. Jones, 58, was flanked by an armed escort yesterday.

Pffft!

General David Petraeus, the top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, took the rare step of a military leader taking a position on a domestic matter when he warned in an e-mail to the Associated Press that “images of the burning of a Koran would undoubtedly be used by extremists in Afghanistan — and around the world — to inflame public opinion and incite violence.’’

And now it will be easy to finger the next patsies for the next false flag attack.

Petraeus spoke yesterday with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan about the matter, according to Colonel Erik Gunhus, military spokesman. “They both agreed that the burning of a Koran would undermine our effort in Afghanistan, jeopardize the safety of coalition troopers and civilians,’’ Gunhus said, and would “create problems for our Afghan partners . . . as it likely would be Afghan police and soldiers who would have to deal with any large demonstrations.’’

Just wondering if the feelings of the people we are ostensibly helping and liberating factored in anywhere.

I'll bet the destruction of their country and the killing of relatives hasn't help.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the pastor’s plans were outrageous, and, along with Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, urged Jones to cancel the event.

“It is regrettable that a pastor in Gainesville, Florida, with a church of no more than 50 people can make this outrageous and distrustful, disgraceful plan and get the world’s attention, but that’s the world we live in right now,’’ Clinton said in remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations.

She said that where?

Yup, that's the world we live in right now.

Now the MSM focus makes sense, huh?

Jones gained local notoriety last year when he posted signs in front of his church declaring “Islam is of the Devil.’’ But his Koran-burning idea attracted wider attention. It drew rebukes from Muslim nations and at home as an emotional debate was taking shape over the proposed Islamic center near the ground zero site of terrorist attacks on New York.

And what is the UNDERLYING NARRATIVE of all this agenda-pushing MSM COMMOTION?

Jones’s actions probably would be protected by the First Amendment.

As long as I am protected by it, too!!!

Update:

"
Pastor cancels Quran-burning, then reconsiders" by Antonio Gonzalez, Associated Press Writer | September 9, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --
An anti-Islamic preacher backed off and then threatened to reconsider burning the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, angrily accusing a Muslim leader of lying to him Thursday with a promise to move an Islamic center and mosque away from New York's ground zero. The imam planning the center denied there was ever such a deal.

The Rev. Terry Jones generated an international firestorm with his plan to burn the Quran on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and he has been under intense pressure to give it up. President Barack Obama urged him to listen to "those better angels" and give up his "stunt," saying it would endanger U.S. troops and give Islamic terrorists a recruiting tool.

As if they needed another one, right?

Defense Secretary Robert Gates took the extraordinary step of calling Jones personally.

WOW! You made the big time, Terry.

Standing outside his 50-member Pentecostal church, the Dove Outreach Center, alongside Imam Muhammad Musri, the president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, Jones said he relented when Musri assured him that the New York mosque will be moved.

Musri, however, said after the news conference that the agreement was only for him and Jones to travel to New York and meet Saturday with the imam overseeing plans to build a mosque near ground zero.

Hours later, Jones said Musri "clearly, clearly lied to us."

"Given what we are now hearing, we are forced to rethink our decision," Jones said. "So as of right now, we are not canceling the event, but we are suspending it."

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --A tiny Florida church's pastor said he won't follow through on the plan if he's able to meet Saturday with the organizers behind a mosque planned near ground zero in New York....

Speaking to NBC's "Today" show, the Rev. Terry Jones said if he meets with the imam in New York, he won't burn the Quran. It wasn't clear if he meant the burning would be halted indefinitely or just for Saturday....

News of the cancellation also was welcomed by Jones' neighbors in Gainesville, a city of 125,000 anchored by the sprawling University of Florida campus....

Part of the pressure exerted on Jones came from Gates who briefly spoke to the pastor before his first announcement to call it off. Gates expressed "his grave concern that going forward with this Quran burning would put the lives of our forces at risk, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan," said Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell.

Morrell said earlier that the decision to issue a personal appeal was not easy because it could provoke other extremists "who, all they want, is a call from so-and-so." Earlier, Jones had said if he was contacted by the White House that he might change his mind. After Gates' call to Jones, Morrell said the secretary's "fundamental baseline attitude about this is that if that phone call could save the life of one man or woman in uniform it was a call worth placing."

So let's respond to every intolerant, fringe group out there, Bob.

Looks like you are going to be busy working the phones for a while.

Day of mixed signals on burning of Korans; Florida preacher wants a deal on NYC mosque" by Damien Cave and Anne Barnard, New York Times | September 10, 2010

Barnard used to write for Boston Globe. I guess she has moved up the food chain.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Terry Jones, the Florida minister who set the world on edge with plans to burn copies of the Koran tomorrow, said yesterday that he had canceled his demonstration because he had won a promise to move the mosque near ground zero to a new location.

But hours later, upon hearing from the project’s leaders in New York that no such deal existed, Jones backed away from his promise and said the bonfire of sacred texts was simply “suspended.’’

The sudden back and forth suggested that the controversy he started — drawing pointed criticisms from President Barack Obama and an array of leaders, officials, and celebrities in the United States and abroad — was not yet finished even after multiple appearances before the news media on the lawn of his small church.

Who, uh, started the controversy, MSM?

I mean you guys are right there fanning the flames and taking up your whole shows with it.

Jones seemed to be struggling with how to save face and hold onto the spotlight he has attracted for an act that could make him a widely reviled figure.

But Jones seemed to have been wrong or misled from the start....

Sort of like what you did on the Iraq invasion, NYT?

The saga of Jones appears likely to continue....

Yeah, but NOT HERE, NYT!

In just the past week, the list of his critics had grown to include Obama, the Vatican, Franklin Graham, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Palin, dozens of members of Congress, and General David H. Petraeus....

Wow, sweet Sarah came out agin it?!

Yesterday, FBI officials met with Jones, and even Obama waded into the fray, sharply criticizing what he called a “stunt’’ that would be a “recruitment bonanza for Al Qaeda.’’

Oh, yeah?

So which "Al-CIA-Duh" would that be, huh?

The made-up "Al-CIA-Duh?"

Or the "Al-CIA-Duh" CREATION for the COURTROOM!?

Oh, AmeriKa's MSM KNOWS ALL ABOUT and yet STILL PUSHES the CHARADE, huh?

And this is BIG TIME if he is being visited by the FBI!

Whether Jones does meet with the mosque leaders in New York, he has already elevated his profile, which has risen quickly from the small church he has run in Gainesville since around 2001.

It has been mostly empty during recent services, with no more than a few dozen congregants, many of them family members. But that began to change when news of his Koran-burning plans reached Muslim countries about a month ago. Suddenly, there was an overabundance of what Jones seemed to want attention.

With CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and Fox all covering their broadcasts with it.

Great job, MSM!

Of course, we all understand the double-game they are playing here: decrying the persecution their Muslim-hating, agenda-pushing, war-promoting created and brought it about as the 9/11 cover story is reinforced.

The MYTH-MAKERS of AmeriKan society must be REALLY SCARED to be BEATING THIS DEAD HORSE so badly.

--more--"

Yeah, no matter what conclusions you come to around 9/11 one thing is certain:

It could NOT HAVE HAPPENED the way the GOVERNMENT and NEWSPAPERS CLAIM or REPORT!

Whatever conclusions you come to about that day it is clear the GOVERNMENT and MSM have LIED!

The RESULTS of those LIES have resulted in MASS-MURDERING WAR CRIMES to which I HOLD the COMPLICIT AmeriKan MSM CULPABLE -- especially since the LIES have NEVER STOPPED and they are even trying to FOMENT MORE WARS!

Yes, America, sadly your MSM and NEWSPAPERS have FAILED YOU!

Wherever you are looking for TRUTH one thing is CERTAIN:

You will NEVER FIND it in a DIVISIVE, DISTORTING, OBFUSCATING, OMITTING, AGENDA-PUSHING, WAR-PROMOTING, CORPORATE NEWSPAPER!
