Obama's Asian Challenge

"the rising economic and military power of China"

Here is how he plans to meet it

That's not going to work.

"Obama faces daunting challenges on major trip to Asian countries" by Mark S. Smith, Associated Press | November 13, 2009

WASHINGTON - Facing a daunting array of Asian challenges, President Obama left yesterday on his first major trip to the region, where a surging China and newly assertive Japan are chipping away at America’s standing on diplomacy and trade.

I'm sorry, MSM, but it has been OUR OWN CONDUCT that has "chipped away" at our standing.

Already the most-traveled first-year president, Obama took off for Tokyo on an Asian journey that will add four countries - Japan, China, Singapore, and South Korea - to the 16 he’s visited. The trip also will highlight a dramatically changing continent....

Yeah, SO MUCH for GLOBAL WARMING and the CARBON FOOTPRINT, 'eh, hypocrite?!!!!! Of course, YOU are PAYING for HIS TRAVEL, American taxpayers!

En route to Tokyo, Obama rallied troops at Elmendorf Air Force Base. That stop - Obama’s first visit to Alaska - was a reminder of the momentous decision he’s weighing on whether to order a major troop buildup in Afghanistan....

Check, MSM!

Obama was arriving in Japan a day later than planned, his schedule scrambled by Tuesday’s memorial for the shooting victims at Fort Hood, Texas....

Another REMINDER, 'eh, MSM?

Also left behind for now was health care. Following last weekend’s narrow House passage of an overhaul plan, Obama’s top domestic priority could reach the Senate floor while he’s half a world away....

Yeah, somehow YOU always get LEFT BEHIND, American people!

His stop in Singapore for the annual Asia-Pacific economic summit, originally scheduled for two days, was cut back to 20 hours. Awaiting Obama in Japan was a new prime minister, Yukio Hatoyama, who swept to power vowing a more equal partnership with Washington. He’s also promised to halt Japan’s refueling of US-led forces in Afghanistan, review its basing agreement for 47,000 US troops, and explore the possibility of a new Asian trading block excluding the United States. In a pretrip talk with Japan’s NHK network, Obama acknowledged Hatoyama’s election as a “political earthquake.’’

Not a good start, 'bamer.

Easily his biggest challenge in Asia is the rising economic and military power of China....

While America’s still struggling out of its deepest recession in decades, China’s economy is bouncing back briskly. Yet a vast trade gap exists....

How come their stimulus worked and ours did not, Amurka?

Obama hopes to enlist China’s help in thwarting nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea and its cooperation on a new climate treaty....

So he is going over there to threaten them and make war talk, huh?

Our "change" president?

BEIJING -- .... China’s “black jails’’

*****

Black jails emerged in China about six years ago after police were barred from randomly detaining vagrants. The jails, usually makeshift lockups in hostels, apartment buildings, or abandoned factories, have been well documented by human rights groups, lawyers, and the international media....

The report sheds new light on the economics of the jails and why they evade crackdowns despite violating Chinese and international law.... because bonuses and promotions are linked to evaluations, it is economical for officials to pay people....

I'm reading those sentences and I'm thinking HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT from AmeriKan justice?!!!

Qin Gang, Foreign Ministry spokesman, however, rejected the Human Rights Watch study and questioned why it was released. “I don’t know what their motivation was,’’ he said at a regular news conference yesterday. “I can assure you there are no so-called black jails in China. We put people first, and we are an administration for the people.’’

Well, they ARE a GOVERNMENT so that is a LIE!

There is not a GOVERNMENT on EARTH that truly serves its people -- except maybe Hamas -- as far as I can tell.

Remember, readers, we are a nation that engages in rendition and has secret black site prisons and floating dungeons based upon unholy and damnable lies regarding 9/11.

Yeah, how is that going, anyway?

Here's some advice, although I wouldn't take it.

"China trip is Obama’s chance to forge a new partnership

.... If Obama can convince China’s leaders and people that they need not fear containment by, or conflict with, the United States.

Translation: The US WANTS IT and CHINA does NOT!!!!!

If you are afraid of something, the last thing you want is for it to happen!

And along comes some SOB saying he's going to MAKE IT HAPPEN?

If this message is delivered persuasively, Obama will be in a stronger position.... and a long-sought “rebalancing’’ of the US and Chinese economies so that there will be more consumer spending in China while Americans save, innovate, and build more products for export.

Save what? Unemployment checks until they run out (check, doing it; get harangued about it from the wishing-well newspaper because consumers aren't pitching in to the "recovery").

And YOU a SLAVE LABOR STATE NOW, 'murka -- making PRODUCTS for EXPORT!!!

It's what OUR CORPORATIONS have done to THIRD-WORLD NATIONS for DECADES!!!!!!

China has been trying to insulate itself against expected opposition from America and its allies. To reduce its vulnerability as a nation with limited natural resources, China has been investing in oil fields, pipelines, and metals mines around the world. The Chinese have been building strategically located port facilities in Sri Lanka, Burma, and Pakistan. And they have been expanding their naval power significantly. These are braided strands of a strategy to protect China in the event that an enemy seeks to block sea lanes at key choke points and cut off China’s energy imports. To counter this geopolitical anxiety, Obama should point out that far from threatening China, the US military presence in Japan and South Korea has enhanced regional security, freeing resources for China’s economic expansion.

Okay, two things: So OUR BLOATED EMPIRE has helped CHINA HOLLOW US OUT and WHIP our ECONOMIC ASS, huh? That's a good thing, 'bamer?

The second thing is WHEN USRAEL EXPANDS its EMPIRE it's no problem, huh?

Above all, Obama should stress that a Chinese military build-up will usher in precisely the outcome Beijing wants to avoid: a destabilizing arms race in Asia. America’s national interest - like China’s - lies with the peaceful ascendance of a self-confident China that competes in the 21st-century global marketplace, not in a great-power conflict with either the United States or India.

Yeah, right, whatever, you war-mongering PoS!

I'm tired of the condescending deceptions and double-talk.

None of this means that Obama needs to be silent about China’s human rights abuses....

Oh, yeah, I COVERED THAT ABOVE and I would PREFER NOT to GO THERE!!!!

I am ASHAMED and EMBARRASSED about that subject -- especially when the US is putting on show trials in NYC sometime in the future.
